Oh, my. How the hell did they do that? I mean, that camera wasn't mounted on a rail, we would have seen the rail in the frame at least at one point, and it's a single show so they had to do a lot of running around.
They must have spent days trying to capture a smooth run of the thing. Small wonder that the band members looks haggard and the techs upstairs are cheering when the blasted thing finally works.
I think i'm going to rewatch this now.
ETA: according to Wikipedia, it took four months to design the thing, two months to build it, and then sixty takes of which the machine ran through only three times and only one of them was good. (It took over an hour to reset the machine each time.)
ETA: and did I mention the NASA engineers? Holy hell.
Yeah, I saw that one - it kind of came up in the Wiki-surfing figuring out who these guys are. Admittedly, I didn't even make it to the end of that one: the new one has the tension created by this crazy-ass machine - come on, who doesn't love these - but in that one their woodiness is kind of spoiling the dorky adorableness they were going for. Or that's the way it is for me.
Well, can't say their attempt at topping the previous video was unsuccessful :). Can't wait to see the next one (though admittedly, I really don't connect to their music).

I'd say "for some definition," but it's more like this could be a textbook illustration for "how to set yourself up, when it seems you have already had."
So we're sharing the same position on these guys: don't connect to the music, waiting to see what they'll do next. Shoot someone out of a circus cannon maybe?
Re RHCP - I only have a huge crush on this band *eyeroll*. I should also forward you the bases/icons I made from this video following this discussion. (I blamed tamara_russo, but you totally share part of the responsibility.)
