So I opened an Etsy store, and there are quite a few things to do. The first step was, of course, to open the store, which is done, obviously, but I need a PayPal account, I need to talk to the IRS to get a "Small Worker" (עוסק זעיר) permit and receipts, I need to write a profile, decide on fees (delivery, special requests etc.) and upload pictures.

I'll be selling photographs to begin with, and I'll see how it goes from there. Yesterday I spent most of my day with [livejournal.com profile] hagar_972 and [livejournal.com profile] lucywiggin, and them both helped a lot with the choice of the photos. Hagar also did some editing of the photos I'll be selling in the beginning and she made me a banner.

I hope I'll at least have some sales, because I can't find a job, even a shitty one, so this will have to be my allowance (again, small, but pretty satisfying if this takes off).

I'm sure it's gonna go well:) Though I still think you should set a shop in ebay, too!

I remember you said your mom has more than a first clue about accounting and such? So she should be able to help you through the (undoubtedly messy) IRS process.

I think i'll forward you some of the stores I have favorited, so you get an idea about how to set up profiles, policies, etc.

When the store's live, i'm mailing it out to anyone at my old lab who liked your work (I showed off whenever you uploaded something) and telling them to pass it forward.

Yes, my mom already said she'd talk to our accountant (though she knows the stuff, she never passed her tests, so she's not a qualified accountant) and get the forms for me and that they'd deal with it. It's not supposed to be complicated - my size of foreseen businesses will not be big, so I won't have to pay taxes, just give out receipts and hand out a yearly income declaration.
