"Grace" is finished, though my mom says it's a bit too empty for her. I don't really think so - it's supposed to be subtle (very different from what I normally do).

They're supposed to be hanged one next to the other (when part two, the dark one, is on the left).

I love the fact that they look like shadows.

Date: 2008-12-20 09:36 am (UTC)Technically, the first one's better. It has an airy, almost lifelike quality that seems to be missing in the second one. However, if i've got my proportions right, then maybe when these two are hanging next to each other - 1 on the right and 2 on the left - then it'll balance out and look okay.
It's indeed very different than your usual non-photography work - it's not abstract. With your abstract works, it seems you've reached and stabilized on a certain artistic maturity level. (Artistic maturity: the ability to communicate what you intended to communicate, with a fair level of complexity.) Here, it's still a little more raw - understandable, considering you've done less works of this kind.
(And yes, I pretty much said in there that put together, these two are a little more remindful of your photography than your mixed media.)

Haven't thought about this, but indeed, it's something I haven't tried to the fullest, kinda like my photography. :)
Thanks for the insight!
