"Grace" is finished, though my mom says it's a bit too empty for her. I don't really think so - it's supposed to be subtle (very different from what I normally do).

They're supposed to be hanged one next to the other (when part two, the dark one, is on the left).

Oh wow!

That's beautiful! You've actually managed to capture the movement. It's looks so dynamic!
I love the fact that they look like shadows.

The second one - did you carve out the lines, between her arms and her legs? That's what it looks like.

Technically, the first one's better. It has an airy, almost lifelike quality that seems to be missing in the second one. However, if i've got my proportions right, then maybe when these two are hanging next to each other - 1 on the right and 2 on the left - then it'll balance out and look okay.

It's indeed very different than your usual non-photography work - it's not abstract. With your abstract works, it seems you've reached and stabilized on a certain artistic maturity level. (Artistic maturity: the ability to communicate what you intended to communicate, with a fair level of complexity.) Here, it's still a little more raw - understandable, considering you've done less works of this kind.

(And yes, I pretty much said in there that put together, these two are a little more remindful of your photography than your mixed media.)

No carving - just paper placement. Like stencils.

As I was planning the set I had the fear the second one will be emptier, but as you think, the two put side by side look very good.

Haven't thought about this, but indeed, it's something I haven't tried to the fullest, kinda like my photography. :)

Thanks for the insight!

Not exactly empty - the trick with the lines that worked so well for the stretched-out figure doesn't work so well for a folder-over-itself figure. It's the design of the figure, and its placement on the canvas. (Composition.)

And quite welcome!

Not this pair, but I'm open for invites - if you want. I can make another pair, any colors you want.
