Birthday Party!
May. 10th, 2008 11:15 amParty last night was incredible!
I was working my ass off all day, and still had to have some help from my sister and my brother in law and my mom, some of it because I had to go get Asaf and Sofi who had a ride to TA and to whom I waited for 15 minutes in the most uncomfortable place in the world. Anyway, I made them work with me (it costs to come early). Hagar and may were the first to come, I think, after Asaf and Sofi (and my sister), and both Hagar and Sofi started a systematic clean-up of the food, and were much happy when they learned there will be hot-dogs and pickled cabbage...
At one point my dog Bono decided he wanted a piece of the fun, so he ran up happily to the roof, where I only manged to save him from Asaf, who said "but you said there would be hot-dogs!"
After that almost everyone came, Neta-li, Nurit (with her girlfriend Victoria), Avihu and his boyfriend Ami, Helena and her boyfriend Dani, Lilach, Ayala, Sharon and her boyfriend Itay, my cousins Abigail and Yonatan (with his girlfriend), and my brother, who supplied most of us some very funny moments during the evening.
The concept of the party was kids party, so we served hot dogs, pitas and hummus (with pickles), a variety of snacks (bamba, bisli, sweet bamba, pretzels and such), corn, and for dessert - a chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies. One of the fun things I planned was a few small games, like the chair game (music plays, and people walk around a few chairs and when the music stops everybody has to sit down and the one who stays without a sit is out, and then you take a chair out of the bunch and continue), running with a spoon in your mouth when there's an orange balanced on it, wrapping someone in toilet paper and finding a few taffies inside a bowl of flour. Needless to say, the games were just an excuse to make fun of each other, to receive stupid prizes and to generally make the party more alive. I have to say that the bowls of flour were hilarious, my brother Udi and my brother-in-law Eyal were the contestants and the came out of it so dirty we laughed so hard it was hard to breathe. Also, while I was competing my sister with the orange, Eyal plucked the orange from my spoon when I reached him at the half point, and so ensuring my sister's triumph...
Nurit, Victoria, Neta-li left early, and Avihu and Ami left not long after, and at some point we decided to play Mafia, which turned out as a great idea, since we had enthusiastic players and a combo of old and new players, which made the game a lot more fun. I don't think I've ever seen a player succeed in saving his neck from lynching by the "town's mob" by saying "פרגיות, שווארמה וכו'" like my brother. I said it was the "Chubaka defence".
Most everyone left at about 12:30, but Asaf and Sofi waited for their ride until 2:30, by that point I was dead tired and Asaf fell asleep on my couch (I took a picture of him like that).
The presents were amazing, especially the painting Hagar, Helena, Asaf and Sofi, Ayala, Nurit and Neta-li got me, but I also got a pair of earrings and some stuff from "Old time's soap" from Lilach, a gift card for "Tzomet Sfarim" from Avihu and a Frangelico liquer from May.
All in all, was a whole lotta fun, with a ton of alchoholic punch (my mom said it was too strong, and Haga reffered to it as "Juice"...) and so many great friends.
Thank you all for coming!
And now - Pictures!
More Later, I have to go get dressed.
