Yes, I went to see her again (this time with my parents) and got another batch of photos... We had lots of fun.

Day report

tamara_russo: (Sleeps with butterflies)
Our maid was due today, so I packed myself out of the house. Visited Soho's annual sale, with no items bought (a very weird first, but I only went to mark it as done, not so much as to buy stuff - since I'm still at home and see myself leaving only quite a long time from now there was no point).

Headed over to "Donkey" for a burrito, and ate it in the car, since the place was packed as hell. Great burrito, but next time I think I'm going to ask no chilly - it burned my tongue really well today.

After that I had a small debate with myself, but then just drove over to Ramat Aviv and headed for the World Press Photo. It was pretty meh this year, and seemed smaller somehow (even though I think I remember saying the same thing last year, so I might be wrong). I usually like the international exhibition more than the "Local Testimony" one, but this time...

See, I have no photo stuck in my head from the WPP save one - of the world's largest cave in Vietnam (a definite vacation destination in the future), and even that one isn't about the photo but about the place.

There is one piece from the LT exhibit I keep playing in my head, though. It's a video piece, not video art (which I pretty much despise) - of a man dancing in the fountain created by a fire hydrant which was hit by a car some time before. The man was later recognized as a dancer and choreographer, but in those moments of dance he seems like a little boy, dancing, not in the rain, but in the summer's sprinklers. It was very obviously a modern dancer, no doubt, but the act of dancing in a fire hydrant's fountain is not an act of an adult.

It reminded me of that sensation, of the summer's heat, and the sound of the sprinklers, going this way and that, and you wait for them to hit just the right place and you walk into the rain of it, and the smell it spreads and the sound it emits - it was so lively, that sensation in that moment. It was beautiful, pure joy, and at the end he just lay there, in the water, soaked through and through (as he was withing seconds of going into the stream).

...and that's why I go back every year. For these moments.

Had a very productive day. I went out to get my hair cut (looks all 20's now, love it to bits) and on the way back I dropped off my new pants at the seamstress for hem shortening (yes, more clothes... But those are the last few! I swear, oh mighty bank account! And I won't go back to Honigman for that GORGEOUS red coat...).

When I got home I went through my room for junk and hanged the laundry, got through one of the e-courses for work and I'm in the middle of (finally) organizing the pictures from Paris (even though I think I'm going to postpone the last bits for tomorrow, it's extremely annoying combining pictures from three different camera).

...and I think I'll go have dinner. I'm meeting Abigail tomorrow for a bit of shopping (for her! For her!), Thursday morning is reserved for Danielle and Friday morning I'm meeting Muna in TA.

Busy week (had breakfast with Lilach yesterday as well). Fun!

(And the best fun is not working and getting paid fully...)

I must say, I hate seeing these photos being that they came out not so great. The spirit is caught, yes, but the quality of the photos is, well, lacking. It's really high time I put my hands on a decent camera.

If anyone has some extra ~5000 NIS, I would really like the new fuji X-100

One day...

*sigh*

One of my favorite photographing spots, no doubt.

If I thought going to Berlin was a good idea, this made it even better.

:)

The Shlomi Shaban show - as seen from my seat way up in the balcony. Lucky I have good zoom.

The guy plating the piano is Shlomi Shaban, the girl with the big hair is Einav Jackson-something (couldn't catch the last name, she was the opening act), the woman with the sparkly short dress and awfull posture is Efrat Gosh, the older woman with the guitar is Koreen Elal (one of Israel's most celebrated singers, and she's gay, and that ain't easy here) and the woman with red lipstick and short dress is Marina Maximilian Blumin (fucking queen)

Awesome show.

It was morning and he just sat on the windowsill so quiet and cute... I had to snap a picture.

Waiting, waiting, for who, for who, for who?... )

Alex Pager's website gives some great photos of her.

I liked some of her stuff, some is a bit boring for me, but there are a few really great shots there. Go check it out, there aren't that many photos.

I get home by bus every day, and it's dark outside, and the city goes by in long flashes. Sometimes, some days, the music plays just a little bit louder and worms its way into the road. That's when the ride becomes a part of the way my life moves, a part of what I see inside my head even when I close my eyes, a part that I can't really touch, only caress.

This it this ride.

Stuff

1. Cramps. Ew.

2. First week of the semester almost over. It seems years and years since Sunday, to be honest, but I suspect it's just the beginning of the year fair I had to work in, and it totally drained me (with cramps, heat like a fucking oven and repeating myself about ten thousand times? Yeah). Anyway - I'll be canceling three classes, since I've too many hours and even with canceling another one next semester I'll have enough hours to graduate (graduate. I'm graduating this year).

3. Saw Mel for about 20 minutes Monday. I didn't recognize her with her hair tied back, I must admit, which was kinda hilarious...

4. Still haven't watched "Fringe". My, oh my.

5. The theater festival of the campus, "Small-Bama" [small stage] is on this week and I think I'll go watch one of the shows - since one of my co-workers wrote and directed it. Plus, there are sorta-street-shows outside the theater building, and I really want to photograph there tonight (so I brought my camera).

6. That's it.

(Also posted on my Facebook Tel Aviv album).

Somehow, the major thing I photographed were people and white stuff.

Hagar was here for Atonement Day, so, naturally, besides eating, we spent some time with the camera.

My brother is an exercise freak (at least in comparison to our other family members, myself included), so today I followed him around as he was bending, stretching, doing push-ups and what-nots, and finishing it off with trying to hit me (which he does every day to show me he loves me) and making himself supper. I took about 90 photos, and five made the cut to show for it.

Yesterday

My mom had a jewelery sale yesterday at my aunt's house, so I went with her to help out. Naturally, my entire afternoon was eaten, but we were able to sell some stuff, which was good. We even sold one pair of the pricier earrings.

I was half dead when we got home, but I got stuck long enough in front of the T.V. to see that the movie "Big" was on in five minutes, so I ended up watching it for the umpteenth time with my dad and I didn't even dose off. I forgot how much cuteness was that movie.

We're having another sale, next Saturday at my sister's house, so if any of you would like to come - you're welcome.

I was also quite glad to find out that a facebook page was a good idea, because most of the women who came said that, yes, they have a facebook page, and yes, they would look for us in there. I put most of my mom's stuff there, in a few albums, except for the newest, which I've already photographed and only need to upload (again, if anyone's interested, the page is here).

I don't really have anything special to do, but I think I'm going to do some stuff for my project, read some and get those photos uploaded. Before all that, though - food. Fried rice, even though I'm not really crazy about the idea, but when I make it I'll eat it and it'll be fine.
