Orit called a few days ago and asked if I wanted to catch a dance show on Friday. I haven't seen a live show in ages, and I really miss them (I'm nuts about dancing, theater etc.). Of course I said yes, so last night, at 21:50 we were sitting inside Susan Dalal Center, waiting for the light to go off.

The first half of the performance was called "Nigzeret" ["derivative", in translation]. It had a wall as the source and the boundary - the wall was painted in a red-black pattern, when the five female dancers were dressed at the same pattern. The dancers were "born" out of the wall and performed a magnificent piece which combined them, separated them and was choreographed amazingly. I sat fascinated through the entire time, and when it was over (with a dancer with shaved hair who made me think of [livejournal.com profile] melody_kitty, not just because of the hair, was drumming the wall in a gong-like fashion) I clapped very hard, and I was on the verge of tears.

The second half was called "Gar'inim" ["seeds" in translation - meaning sunflower seeds which are common in Israel as a snack]. It had four female dancers and two male ones, and low, long benches as accessories (as well as sunflower seeds the dancers wouldn't stop cracking and eating). This dance was about couple-hood, craziness, obsession and sex. The first male dancer was the focal-point of all the female dancers at the beginning and he ignored them as well as he could. He performed a big "ignoring" part when one of the dancers danced around him. Then another male dancer got into the stage, he was interested in the girls, and eventually caught one, spinning her into a beautiful duet, when at it's end they truly had sex on stage, as much as two fully dressed people can have, all the other dancers staring at them, still cracking and eating the seeds. When that part was over, the first male dancer "married" a female one, one that didn't really stand out in the beginning (They were standing one next to each other while all the other dancers threw a whole lot of seeds on them - I saw it as the throwing of rice in christian weddings). They proceeded into another duet, who had the female dancer go crazy at the end, and the guy went back to ignore her. After a large part of all the dancers together it ended.

That part left me with real tears in my eyes, not just on the verge.

After coming out of the theater we went to have a drink at "Susana", a cafe just outside the square. Since there wasn't a place on a table we sat on the bar, drinking soda (me) and tea (Orit) and eating an apple tart (both of us). My teacher from 11th and 12th grade was there, which was quite funny, and after a few minutes sitting a large, orange, long haired cat positioned herself in front of us, on the bar. She is an old tenant at the cafe, so the bartender told us, and her name is Rachel... She walked up and down the bar, occasionally stopping to get a stroke from someone, clearly used to all the mess and noise. Orit and I were gaping at her in amazement, and were very much amused at her nonchelante way of walking up and down the place, holding her tail up high.

After about an hour we have finished our drinking and eating (and conversation), so we headed home. I dropped her off at her place, and walked into our apartement just as my dad was turning off the lights.

My floor was, again, peed on, so I had to clean it up before I turned in, and was quite annoyed about it, but the wonderful evening I had kept me from swearing loudly...

Morning brought a very strange weather. The window is open and there's some wind, but there's haze outside, and I can't help thinking something's changing.
