I love the colorfulness. I think the white-on-yellow is a bit hard to read, maybe changing one of the shades would be good. Anyway, you're the one seeing it, so if you can read it, it's cool.
#1 If you like it, then that's what counts, I changed my layout for me not anyone else.
That being said; the light blue/purple and red rock my sox, the yellow and green are a bit much for me and frankly they're not that easy on the eyes, especially along with the red. #2 See #1, so despite voicing my opinion, this is YOUR space and you should do what you like with it.

The choice of colours is questionable, though inifinitely better than the atrocious purple/red/gree schemes you had before.
White on yellow is unreadable.
A shorter journal title may not be a bad idea.
The good: it's not making my eyes bleed. Mostly.
The bad: it's making me bare my teeth and hiss/spit/growl.
