Books, Books, Books
Jun. 7th, 2007 11:02 amBook week is here again, hooray!
Scheduled with Hagar to go to the fair with her, so I left work at 17:45 yesterday and met her in Azrieli, where we caught the train to the uni station, which is but 10 minutes walk from where the fair is located. When we arrived the place was still closed (even though it was supposed to be open at 18:00, and it was already 10 past), so we waited on a bench next to the entrance until the gates were opened (Hagar spent that time talking to Yehu on the phone), and then we got in, and made our winding way through the stands, which were positioned in the shape of a snake. It didn't take us long to buy a lot of books, both of us breaking our own personal records.
I got Heinrich Heine's book of poems and "Next stop Karl Place", both from "Gvanim" publishing house. I got "My friends from Arnon Street", which is a book I had when I was young and it is a total Israeli classic. I got three books from "Opus" publishing house, all because of Hagar's... Well, encouragement is the polite word, but "excessive shoving" is more true. Two of them is Neil Gaimen - but I can't remember the exact names, and one "Doom's Day" I think, and I've no idea who the author is. The last two books I got were from Yediot publishing, one is "Skating shoes" by Noel Streetfield and one is "East" (translated as "The Journey to the end of the world", which amuses me a lot, for the difference in the number of words), which I, again, can't remember the author's name.
We left the compound at about 20:15 and made our way to the train station (Hagar) and bus station (myself). A few minutes after I said goodbye to Hagar my bag ripped and all of my books and lunch boxes fell on the pavement. Lucky it didn't happen while I was crossing the road, but it was still very annoying and a mess to re-organize, so I sat on the grass behind the pavement and re-organizes everything to fit into my two remaining carrying bags and made my un-comfortable way to the station, where I was relieved to put everything down.
The bus came after a few minutes and I got home at about 22:00, where I crashed on the sofa until I had enough strength to drag myself to bed.
My computer decided to die in the middle of the night, but after re-wiring I managed to turn it on and continue downloading "Medium" (the next season of "The L word" will wait until I finish watching the first with Mel).
I have a small headache, hopefully it'll go away.
