So, it seems like there are quite a lot of my songs no one can name. It's clue time!

(And as scores go - [personal profile] hagar_972 has 9 right answers, Nurit has 2, as before).

We have a new roller, her name is Nurit and she's waaaaaaaaaaay over there at LJ... But she got two songs right, and now we have a third line for y'all.

(As scores go - [personal profile] hagar_972 has 9 right answers, Nurit has 2).

Round 2. Since the first round has ended (we have a leader, naturally), here are the second lines.

Second liners )
tamara_russo: (Accio Brain)
Since this will mostly be solved by two people, no need to repeat the rules in full, just a reminder:

* Below are the first lines of 25 songs that came up on my iTunes.
* NO GOOGLING
* If you recognize a song, name it in a comment.
* And to make this interesting - I'll make a nice little present (one you can eat) for the winner.

Let the Hunger Games begin! (and may the odds be EVER in your favore...)

The lyrics )

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload/link) 5 songs you love that begin with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

Hagar gave me L.

1. Lust - Tori Amos - That song makes me shudder every time I listen to it. One of her not common songs, worth much more than a single listening. Beautiful.

2. Lullaby - The cure - This is such a great song with layers of music - the cello, the drums, the singing, everything comes together perfectly, and masks the true nature of this scary song. Disturbing video, as well, and one of the only songs my siblings and I love together.

3. Life on Mars - David Bowie - Probably the only song by David Bowie I truly, madly love. And it's only because of the show (British). And because of this last scene on the roof. This. This is pure genius.

4. La Isla Bonita - Madonna - Forever my Eilat song (it came out 1987, see, and we went on a holiday in Eilat, I wasn't even five, and my mom was pregnant with my brother). To this day, this song makes me want to sunbathe.

5. Let the sunshine in - From "Hair" - one of the saddest fucking songs ever.

Day 22: Your favorite song from a movie.

Oh, this is the kick-start for a bloody good movie!!! :)
tamara_russo: (Accio Brain)
Day 21: A song that makes you want to break stuff.

Ooooooh, that's gonna be ugly. Because this song... It's my sister's huppa song, but everytime I listen to it I'm reminded of being alone, so naturally, I wann break stuff.

This is the closest I have to a song like that.

Day 20: Your favorite breakup song.

Well, I went for ironic, because the first song I thought of was "Angel", which I've already put a few days ago.

So enjoy, and... Bye, bye, bye!

Day 19: Your favorite love song.

This one isn't very old for me- I've only started listening to Vienna Teng's music about a year or two ago, but this one is just... Perfect. It's also one of the only real videos of her I've ever come across.

Two more songs:

Day 17: The last song in your mp3 folder.

It's a Hebrew, old song. One of those songs that has always been there and always will.

"No, no/Don't forget/even when you're sad/you have me".

Day 18: An instrumental song you like.

From "Thelma and Louise". If you know me... I once placed it in a minidisk I made before "A Sorta Fairytale". That should tell you how I feel about this particular piece of music.

Cheers.

Debts from yesterday and the day before that, and of course, today's song.

Here they are:

Day 14: A song from the year you were born.

My year was pretty nice in terms of music, but this one is my favorite:

Day 15: A song you liked in high school.

I will go a bit further than that, because most of the songs I liked in high school were either by Tori Amos or by obscure bands and singers which I will not play again. So this is the song I've loved the longest, since I can remember loving music.

Day 16: The first song in your mp3 folder.

Hee hee. That song. Muriel's wedding, anyone?

tamara_russo: (Sleeps with butterflies)
Day 13: A song you sing in the shower.

I'll give you two today because they go together - I don't usually have a lot of time in the morning, so I time myself according to two songs - "Crucify" and "A Sorta Fairytale", both of the Tori Amos'. i do that because I know how long they are (the original, CD versions) - 10 minutes all together - so I know how long it takes me to get in the shower, wash my hair, brush my teeth, do my hair and if I'm quick enough do my make up as well, all inside these two songs.

"Crucify":

And "A Sorta Fairytale" (and please, if you have the time, listen to it's original version, which is a lot better, though I quite like this video):

and the longer, better version, with no video:

*This is the third time Tori appears here in this meme, with two more songs...
tamara_russo: (Talking about love)
Day 12: A song that makes you want to have sex.

Definitely.

and a debt from yesterday - Day 11: A song that reminds you of your mother.

Which is difficult - my mom likes music, but she doesn't really have music she loves and listens to. This is a safe bet.

tamara_russo: (home)
Day 10: A song that reminds you of your father.

Whoa. Hands down, this is it! Led Zeppelin, "While Lotta Love"

I actually don't like it...

tamara_russo: (bitch)
Day 9: A song that reminds you of an ex.

Can't really call him an ex. but it's the closest thing.

I still like this song, though.
tamara_russo: (Default)
Day 8: One band/singer whose popularity you will never understand.

Well, it's going to be an Israeli Singer - Shuli Rand. This guy, he's a crap of a singer and he writes lyrics that are pseudo-biblical, and he has such immense popularity here that I want to scream. He sings off key and to annoying lyrics, and people adore him. Ugh.

To your (dis)pleasure.

tamara_russo: (Accio Brain)
Day 7 - One band/singer you're ashamed to admit you like.

All in all, I'm not ashamed to admit I like any singer, because I think each type of music has it's own purpose (yes, I'll listen music with dumb lyrics if the tune is catchy enough). The biggest candidates are The Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears. I think I'll go with Britney. she has better videos...

But of course, none of her videos can be embedded. Surprise, anyone?

So here it is - one of the dumbest songs you'll ever hear, courtesy of the 90's. "Get down" - Backstreet Boys.

Nostalgic, isn't it?
tamara_russo: (home)
Day 6 - your favorite band.

Well, that's probably Queen (though my love for them diminished excessively in recent years, and I don't really listen to many bands nowadays). No, I'm not going to post Bohemian Rhapsody, and you know why, so here is...

As always, why would I find a video that would actually embed? Here is a link

It was the last video they made with Freddy Mercury. He was already visibly sick, but you could still see that huge talent shining through. I said on occasion that it was an incredible waste, but sometimes I think that he lived the kind of life that all the world would remember, and as such, it's not a waste.
